Day 23 - Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz Gin

We all tend to experiment from time to time, however if you are like your' narrator those experiments provide more cautionary tales than raging successes.

Today's gin is the exception to that rule.

We bring you the globally celebrated and famed Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz Gin.

This gin evolved out of the thought that combining shiraz from the Yarra Valley with gin might be interesting. Starting in 2015 with 250kg of shiraz steeped for 8 weeks, the gin had an immediate impact. Soft and sweet from the Shiraz, without losing the cut through of the juniper. No wonder it sold out quickly and became the sought after annual release. Today it is made in the same way, except there are now 100 tonnes of grapes needed to feed the demand, and even with the volume that produces, it still sells out within weeks.

This gin stands up beautifully neat, and pairs with the acid of a lemon tonic perfectly. Be careful though, this is no low alcohol sloe gin, it still packs a punch at just under 40%.
