Day 20 - Le Gin de Christian Drouin, Carmina

OK team, be prepared for another unique and rare number. Today we bring you Le Gin de Christian Drouin - Carmina.

This small batch distillery launched its line of gins in 2015, utilising the Normandy regions famous apple based spirit known as Calvados, which is in essence a distilled cider. While this technique is known to be over 600 years old, it's application to is normally reserved for the production of brandy, something the Christian Drouin distillery has been doing since the 1960's.

Not content with repurposing this approach for the production of gin, Christian Drouin takes it a step further ensuring each unique variety of fruit is distilled separately and then blended at the end. In this way the maximum flavour is extracted for each fruit.

The Carmina edition of this incredible gin, continues this approach, an introduces blackcurrants and raspberries, independently distilled and then blended just prior to bottling.

Enjoy with a light tonic, to allow the fruit to shine through. Garnish with a slice of lemon or a raspberry or two.
