A new day for a new gin. Today we head to the Isle of Islay, a place famous for it's whiskey. Renown distilleries like Laphroaig, Lagavulin, Ardbeg all call this little Scottish island home. With a population of just over 3,000 people there are no less than 9 working distilleries - seriously impressive ratio - and they call Australians booze hounds.
One of those famous distilleries, Bruichladdich, figured there was a hold in the Isle of Islay distilling scene, and so was born The Botanist.
The marketing material would suggest this is a gin for foragers, those people that want to stay connected with nature, go off the beaten path. This claim is linked to the fact the botanicals within this gin, there are 31 of them, are hand foraged from the harsh landscape of Islay. So find your inner forager, the one normally hunting for a coffee or an open bar, and get back to nature to enjoy this little taste of the Scottish wild.
As name of the distillery translates to "brae by the shore", or in plain english "corner of the beach", we recommend heading to the beach at sunset, with your day 19 tipple and a bottle of the aromatic tonic to sit back and enjoy!
